Aunty Neva Taleke is a proud Elder and Cultural Leader of the Wollithiga Bangerang people. A respected cultural worker, she has spent many years sharing First Nations knowledge through education, working across preschools, primary and secondary schools to embed culture through arts and craft-based practices.

Aunty Neva is the founder of the Yorta Yorta Echuca Dancers, a group that brought together contemporary, hip hop and traditional dance in vibrant performances that shared culture with audiences across the region.

Her collaborative approach has seen her work closely with students on public mural projects throughout the Campaspe Shire, including the recent Rochester Secondary College mural. Aunty Neva has also created cultural garments worn by high-profile performers such as Mitch Tambo and the Dreamtime at the ‘G dancers. Her artwork designs have featured in uniforms for the Moama, Kyabram and Elmore Football Clubs.

Deeply committed to supporting cultural connection for young First Nations people, Aunty Neva facilitates access to arts and cultural practices through her work with the Njernda Family Services women’s group. Her leadership continues to inspire and strengthen community through creativity, identity and care.
