In August 2024, Kris Tito and Greg Pritchard, the Arts and Culture team at Campaspe Shire Council, invited expressions of interest for development of a new arts festival in the region. More than 25 enthusiastic community members joined the initiative, forming two creative co-design groups that meet regularly in Rochester and Echuca.
These meetings bring together a diverse group of people, who each have contributed ideas about what the festival could include, its themes and its overall vision. From large-scale spectacles to intimate experiences, the creative energy in the room has been electric. Through open discussions, the festival began to take shape, including its name – Ripple Fest.
The Arts and Culture team worked closely with the groups, refining ideas based on feasibility, timing and logistics. Smaller working groups have since been collaborating to bring the vision to life leading up to the festival from 22–25 May 2025.
A significant milestone was securing the Pump House as the creative hub for the festival. This space has become a focal point for idea development, creative workshops and artist residencies, to help shape Ripple Fest into a vibrant, community-driven event.
