With Aunty Marilyne Nicholls, Aunty Denise Morgan Bulled & Lani Taga

As part of Ripple Fest, we held a special two-day (First Nations only) Cultural Weaving Workshop on the banks of the Dungala (Murray River), guided by highly respected Elders and master weavers Aunty Marilyne Nicholls and Aunty Denise Morgan Bulled. This gathering offered a culturally safe space for First Nations participants to sit, learn and create on Yorta Yorta Country.

Aunty Marilyne and Aunty Denise mentored local weaver Lani Taga, who co-facilitated the workshop as part of an intergenerational cultural and creative exchange. Together, they guided participants through traditional weaving techniques, cultural practice and shared stories.

Participants created their own woven objects using natural materials, continuing culture though connection to community and Country. This workshop was a beautiful and grounding experience that honoured tradition and celebrated the strength and creativity of First Nations women.
